'Easy Gardens for North Texas' at North Haven Gardens

In honor of National Public Gardens Day on May 10, the Dallas Arboretum is hosting an essay contest for all Dallas area first through eighth graders. The prompt is “Why is a public garden, like the Dallas Arboretum, important for Dallas?”

Essays must be submitted online or by mail by 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. See additional age-specific writing instructions and download the required participation form HERE.

Three essay contest winners will be chosen by May 9. Winning students will receive 20 passes to the Dallas Arboretum and recognition during an award ceremony on May 10 at the arboretum. Rain Bird will also donate a sprinkler system to the winning student. The student may choose to have the sprinklers installed at their school or in a public garden of their choice.
