Gov. Rick Perry surprised Lamplighter third and fourth graders with a surprise visit one week after they visited the Capitol for a field trip.
Lamplighter students travel to Austin annually to explore the Capitol and other historic sites, but on their most recent visit the children got to see the governor’s office while, ironically, he was in Dallas for the dedication of the Bush Center at SMU.
Apparently Perry was disappointed he didn’t get to meet the savvy students, so he traveled back to Dallas to discuss government with them.
Perry apparently “peppered” the children with questions and was impressed by their Texas history knowledge.
