mosquito_Tonight starting at 10 p.m. the city will begin ground spraying for mosquitoes around Hillcrest in Preston Hollow per the request of Dallas County Health and Human Services to prevent further cases of West Nile Virus.

The spraying is scheduled to conclude early Wednesday morning, pending any severe rain delays. Neighbors are urged to stay inside if possible during spraying times and avoid proximity to the spray trucks.

Although the mosquito spray is approved by the Environmental Protective Agency but it is recommended that you wash hands if you come into contact with the spray.

Also, keep an eye out this week for our upcoming July cover story about local beekeepers, and how they’re coping with the crucial insect’s possible demise. Part of that is due to these types of sprayings that kill mosquitoes but also the humble bees.
