Mouth-watering, fall-off-the-bone, barbecue is one of my favorite things about grilling out in the summer. As the weather turns cooler (hopefully) and fall is nigh, keep the spirit of summer alive at these Preston Hollow area barbecue spots:

1. Peggy Sue BBQ in Snider Plaza: The juicy baby back ribs are the star at this bbq joint, but side dishes made from scratch such as the black-eyed peas topped with pulled pork and the restaurant’s signature fried pie for dessert are pretty solid choices as well.

2. Sonny Bryan’s Smokehouse at Lovers and Inwood: This Dallas chain started back in 1958, using a barbecue sauce that has stood the test of time. Try the flavorful sliced beef sandwich, which showcases the century-old barbecue sauce recipe.

3. Rathbun’s Blue Plate Kitchen at Preston and Luther: On Mondays, Kent Rathbun’s smoked meats and signature flavors, including his ancho chili barbecue sauce, are on special.
