New awnings, pavers, and lighting at The Shoppes on Lovers

The small boutique shopping center directly across the street from the future Inwood Village Trader Joe’s has just finished aesthetic upgrades and a rebranding effort. The shopping center, rebranded at “The Shoppes on Lovers,” is anchored by Pier 1 and includes a Campisi’s, Dunston’s Steakhouse, a home decor store, a hair salon, and in the coming months, the Pilates Barre.

Noticing the nice lighting, awning, and aesthetic copper upgrades, I decided to get in touch with Nick Hannon of Intercity Investments, who has owned the shopping center since the 1940’s.

Hannon shared that the upgrades were entirely aesthetic. “Since the shopping center is located in a high-density, high income neighborhood, the area supports investing in the property,” he says.

“With the Trader Joe’s coming, we wanted to give the shopping center a facelift,” Hannon says. He also shares that he does worry about whether Trader Joe’s would have sufficient parking in the Inwood Village location, but declined further comment. Though the Trader Joe’s site is within a fairly busy shopping center with lots of traffic, Inwood Village broker Jack Breard says that there is sufficient parking according to city code.
