The 10th annual Share the Warmth Blanket drive begins today, and local Girl Scout troops already are doing their part. Us adults could follow their example.

You can join the effort by dropping off new or gently used blankets to our neighborhood Sleep Experts stores, which include Royal Crossing and Lovers Lane. The donations go to area domestic violence shelters, including The Family Place, which has a resale shop based right here in Preston Hollow. (The nonprofit also just launched its biggest fundraiser of the year, the Partners Card campaign.)

Over the past decade, Sleep Experts has given away more than 15,000 blankets to families in need through Share the Warmth. You also can donate comforters, sheets, towels and pillows.

The drive runs through Thanksgiving.
