One way to celebrate Veterans Day today in our neighborhood, besides all the special deals at restaurants around town, is to stop by the Military Museum at Marsh Middle School.

We wrote about the museum and the effort to create it back in 2011. The idea behind it was to recreate history, teaching young cadets while honoring our local war veterans. And this isn’t just a middle school project; it’s as professional as it gets with video installations, uniformed mannequins and some pretty stunning memorabilia — much of which came from local veterans’ collections.

The museum is open all day on campus and has some new additions to display.
