NorthPark visitors check out the 26th annual train exhibit: Brandy Barham

The 26th annual Trains at NorthPark exhibit features elaborate toy trains rolling across 1,600 feet of track through replica cityscapes. The exhibit is open daily with limited hours on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, through Jan. 5. Call 214.631.7354 to learn more. Cost is $3-$6; children under two are free.

Stir up some excitement for the holiday season by bringing the kids to a reading of “The Elf on the Shelf” at the Lincoln Park Barnes & Noble, Saturday morning at 11 a.m. The reading also includes some activities and free treats for the little ones.

Downton Abbey viewers eagerly awaiting the premiere of season four (it’s Jan. 5) can join other fans of the BBC program this Saturday. The Preston Royal Barnes & Noble hosts a Downton Abbey-themed tea party Saturday evening, beginning at 7 p.m. Sip tea, nibble biscuits, engage in gossip and come dressed as your favorite character to win trivia prizes.
