Here are a few of the latest crimes that have recently occurred in our neighborhood, courtesy police reports from the Dallas Police Department:

Check out this week's crime reports to see the importance of never leaving your purse, any other valuables in your car, no matter where you are parked.

Between 6 p.m. on Jan. 17, and 10 a.m. on Jan. 18, a car parked outside a residence on the 6400 block of Belmead incurred over $5000 worth of damage to the doors, hood, bumper, grill, and headlight from, “unknown means”.

Just after 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, an unknown suspect entered an unlocked vehicle parked in a shopping center on the northwest corner of Preston and Forest.The suspect stole nearly $3000 worth of personal belongings, including a purse with a checkbook, a diamond ring, and a laptop. no

Between 7 and 11 p.m. on Jan. 17, an unknown suspect kicked open the back door of a residence on the 4300 block of Mill Creek and stole a flat screen television valued at $1800. Cost to repair the door is estimated to be $400.

A car parked at the Preston Post Office at Hillcrest and Northwest was broken into around 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18. The suspect stole a purse sitting on the front seat, a driver’s license, and incurred damages to the front driver’s side window that are estimated to cost $300 to repair.

Just after 10 p.m. on Sunday night, 22-year-old Pablo Martinez of Dallas was killed in a car wreck along the 7600 block of Royal when the truck he was riding in lost control and struck some trees in the median. The truck’s driver, Jacinto Gomez Benitez, was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter.
