The Council for Life, a local group committed to raising awareness unplanned pregnancies and providing financial support to agencies that share their mission hosts a luncheon at the Museum of Biblical Art (located at Park and Boedeker) Thursday from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Senior Pastor Neil Tomba of Northwest Highway Bible Church, his wife Vela, along with Amy Ford, founder of Embrace Grace, are the featured speakers. Waddyi Thibodeaux of Flying Geese Productions re-enacts the story of “Queen Bess,” the first woman to earn an International Aviation License and the world’s first licensed African-American aviator. Presentations are at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at 6911 Lemmon. Cost is $5-$8; children under 3 free.
Get pumped up for the Winter Olympics at Klyde Warren Park Saturday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. or Sunday 11 a.m.-2 p.m. for the “Road to Sochi Tour.” Several U.S. Olympians and hopefuls will be on hand to sign autographs, take photographs and celebrate with fans in Klyde Warren Park. Guests can try ten winter sport experiences including luge, hockey and speed skating on the Kelly and Norman Green skating rink. Free.
