A summary of recent crimes that occurred in Preston Hollow, from the Dallas Police Department. 

A car part thief is striking cars parked at businesses just south of LBJ. A catalytic converter valued at $1000 was stolen from a car parked in the 6700 block of Hillcrest Plaza on Feb. 26 between 9 a.m. and 5:41 p.m. In a separate incident on Feb. 28, another catalytic converter valued at $2000 was stolen from a car parked in the 1800 block of N. Central between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Even if your car is parked at a church, it’s best to take valuables with you and lock your doors. Around 9 a.m. on Feb. 28, a laptop and iPad, valued at $2,300, were stolen from an unlocked car parked at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.

On March 1 police arrived at the Preston Center La Madeleine when the restaurant’s security alarm was set off at 3 a.m. Police discovered the restaurant’s double doors pulled open and damaged, as well as a man sleeping inside. The man, with bloodshot eyes, an unsteady gait, and smelling of alcohol, told officers that he did not know how he got into the business. Police took the man into custody and charged him with public intoxication and criminal trespassing.

A woman who left her purse unattended in a shopping cart at the Preston Forest Walgreens on March 1 at 5:15 p.m. discovered that a thief had made quick work: while she went to retrieve an item from the shelf a thief stole her wallet, worth $50 and containing credit cards and a driver’s license, from her purse.
