We’re swapping burgers for doughnuts at the northwest corner of Hillcrest and Northwest Highway. The Seattle-based chain Top Pot Doughnuts is taking over the space formerly occupied by Elevation Burger, which closed several months ago.

The chain’s handmade doughnuts, which originated from a secret 1920s recipe, have achieved wider fame, appearing on The Food Network and The Travel Channel. Its business model moves away from “the fluorescent-lit fast food aesthetic” and toward a more inviting atmosphere where people want to stay a while.

No word yet on an opening date for Top Pot. In related new, On the other end of the Hillcrest Crossing shopping center, Soleo Mexican Kitchen has closed.
