A developer plans to turn 1.4 acres of vacant land at the southwest corner of Merit Drive and LBJ into mid-rise apartments.

Zenstar Development acquired the area adjacent to the Park Central offices and the Westin Hotel for seven-story building of 98 mixed-income units, including one- and two-bedrooms with “energy efficient elements,” according to the release from Henry S. Miller Company, which represented Zenstar in the transaction.

The plans also feature amenities such as a rooftop terrace, fitness center, cyber lounge, a children’s playroom and a parking garage.

It’s a valuable location with easy access to major freeways and employment at Medical City Hospital, all within “the loop,” or south of LBJ.

Construction on the apartments, known as Summit Parque, should start this summer and be complete by the end of this year.
