If you haven’t noticed, the we at the Advocate can’t get enough of our neighborhood sweet shops. We dedicated our cover story to the topic last December, and we recently brought on Preston Hollow pastry chef Kristen Massad, the former owner of Tart Bakery, to share her personal dessert recipes each month.

Well, it’s now spring, and we feel it our duty to alert you to some breaking bakery news.

Gigi’s Cupcakes in Inwood Village — known for its creative cupcake concoctions — has some new spring flavors, including lemon daisy, triple chocolate torte, raspberry pink blossom and pink champagne. They are available on different days of the week, so check before you go.

It may not be new, but we recently learned about something called the “hot mess” at Creme de la Cookie. — a six-inch layered cookie cake with a choice of five cookie doughs. The bakery also has some festive confections for Easter right now.

Remember the famous “cookie shot” unveiled at SXSW? Society Bakery created its own version for custom orders. (You’ll have to go to the Greenville Avenue location, though).
