Shell Oil Company’s 1938 Stinson on display this Friday at the Frontiers of Flight Museum

Plenty of folks will be busy this weekend celebrating Easter with chocolate bunnies and pastel-dyed eggs, but there are a few other activities around town that are worth squeezing into your schedule. Check out some of those activities below:

A free concert, featuring song selections illustrating the spirit of the acclaimed Spanish artist Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida, will be held Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at the Meadows Museum. The concert, performed by pianist Marta Espinós, precedes the final weekend of the museum’s exhibit, “Sorolla & America,” which closes on Saturday. Call 214.768.4993 for further information.

From 6-8:30 p.m., The J hosts a Kosher Passover barbecue with brisket, chicken, sausage, and all of the trimmings. Cost is $11-$25; call 214.239.7128 to reserve.

Living History personality Don Houk will portray World War II aviation icon Jimmy Doolittle and discuss the raid on Tokyo this Friday at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Performances will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Also, don’t miss the display of the 1938 Stinson that Doolittle flew some 140 times between 1938 and 1940. Call 214.350.3600 for more information; cost is $5-$8.
