Students from KIPP DFW went head-to-head in a trivia game against some neighborhood celebrities last night during a fundraiser at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Spoiler: The kids won.

Styled after the game show, “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth-Grader?”,  KIPP middle schoolers competed against Mayor Mike Rawlings, KERA’s Krys Boyd, DJ Lucy Wrubel, Fox 4 anchor Clarice Tinsley, Sen. Royce West, journalist Skip Hollandsworth, Ruben Esquivel of UT Southwestern, and Dr. Sandi Chapman from the Center for Brain Health at UT-Dallas. Tennis star Andre Agassi also made a special appearance.

Preston Hollow resident Lael Brodsky chaired the event, which more than doubled KIPP’s fundraising goal for the night. The money will aid the school’s growth plan.

KIPP, which stands for the Knowledge is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public charter schools geared toward students in under-served communities.
