Criminally Negligent Homicide

A 19-year-old East Texas woman was killed in a fatal car wreck that occurred on the 3500 block of Royal just before 9 a.m. on May 9. According to police reports, the woman was a passenger in the vehicle and the unnamed driver was traveling westbound in a Ford Escort at “a speed unsafe for the conditions” when the vehicle lost traction on the wet roadway. The vehicle then hit a curb, became airborne, and collided with a tree. The woman was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and pinned underneath the car. Firefighters pronounced the woman dead at the scene. It is unclear in the report if the driver has been formally charged for homicide.

Burglary

  • An iPhone and MacBook valued at $1800, plus an assortment of liquor bottles, were stolen from a home located near Park and Boedeker between 3 and 9 a.m. on May 11.
  • A flat screen television worth $500 was stolen from The Carlisle School when an unknown suspect removed window AC units and entered through the side windows of the building at 8:30 a.m. on May 11.

 

Theft

A wallet containing several credit cards was stolen from an unattended purse placed under a bench at the Unity Church of Dallas between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on May 11.
