Rusty TacoRusty Taco’s first Preston Hollow location opened its doors at 6 a.m. Monday, satisfying the cravings of taco lovers from all over the neighborhood. The restaurant is the third and final business to open in the new development at the northeast corner of Inwood and Forest, which also houses Einstein Bros. Bagels and The Juice Bar.

Complete with a retractable garage door-style wall that allows for both indoor and outdoor seating, Rusty Taco has a vibrant yet grungy atmosphere reflective of its menu.

“We are pretty much as authentic as you can get when it comes to street tacos,” says manager Tom Mayer.

The store is reminiscent of popular Austin taco eateries but shows its personality through the quotes that decorate the wall, such as “Keep it simple amigos: love, laugh and eat tacos,” and “Every day is Taco Tuesday.”

A lot of taco places usually have specials on Tuesdays, but ours is every day,” Mayer says. “Our prices are relatively cheap, our motto is ‘hot, fresh and fast,’ and that’s how we roll.”

Popular menu items include the baja shrimp taco, brisket taco and beef fajita taco. Since the restaurant is open 6 a.m.- 10 p.m. (11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays), the all-day breakfast options are also a favorite of many customers. The classic bacon, egg and cheese breakfast taco always sells well, Mayer says.

In addition to gourmet street-style tacos, Rusty Taco offers a selection of beers and a classic margarita. There are also mouthwatering desserts: a fried fruit taco and a traditional sopapilla.
