Hockaday School summer camp attendees were evacuated from the school on Monday afternoon when acetone peroxide, a highly explosive chemical, was found on the campus. The substance had been improperly disposed of after the completion of a science project at the school a few weeks ago, but the chemical didn’t pose an immediate threat, Dallas Fire-Rescue Lt. Joel Lavender told Dallas Morning News. As a precaution, members of the Dallas bomb squad safely detonated the chemical in an empty field nearby. Since then, Hockaday has resumed its summer camp.
