crimeOn Tuesday, we shared a neighbor’s unsettling video of a burglar kicking in the back door of a home near LBJ and the Dallas North Tollway. Police cams often show a low-res blur of suspects in the act, but this one was a crystal-clear picture, showing the entire sequence of the man creepily peeking into the windows before busting through the doors (luckily, the alarm scared him away). So, it’s no surprise the video has popped up in news stories all over town.

Based on other neighbors’ accounts, this was one of a string of daytime burglaries in the area. Farther south in Windsor Park, near Park Lane and Hillcrest, a cat burglar entered a home at 2 a.m. Aug. 6 through an unlocked back door. According to the report sent to neighbors, the suspects “were startled by the resident who was inside the home during the offense.” They fled the scene; there are no descriptions of the suspects or their vehicle.

North Central police chief Rick Watson has increased patrol in the area and reminds neighbors to secure their back gates, lock all doors (including the garage door) and help out other neighbors by removing mail that is visible on the front of homes. And, use alarm systems.
