Austin-based restaurant Verts, short for Vertskebap, is set to open a location in Preston Hollow Village soon.

The fast casual dining concept is built around the popular German döner kebap: a panini sandwich filled with vertically roasted meats and topped with vegetables and yogurt sauce that’s popular in Germany. Aside from sounding tasty, the sandwiches are pretty healthy too, coming in under 550 calories a pop. Other menu items include wraps, salads and falafel, along with a few local beers on tap.

Publicist Julie Sondecker says that Verts will open sometime in late October or early November, right next door to Trader Joe’s. Two additional Dallas-area locations are set to open this fall in Addison and Lewisville.

Speaking of Trader Joe’s, it seems as though the grocery store’s opening day may be just around the corner. As we reported earlier this summer, the grocery store is slated to open next month. Jerry Jackson, vice president of development at Provident Realty Advisors tells Construction Today says that construction on the Trader Joe’s building will be done by Oct. 17, to be exact. I’ve sent word to Trader Joe’s and will update this post if I hear more on the grand opening.
