The Museum of Biblical Art inaugurates its new National Center for Jewish Art this week, featuring “Mysteries, Signs and Wonders: The Art of Barbara Hines.” A reception was held Sunday night, and the exhibit opens to the public Oct. 7.

Hines, a Texas-based international artist, creates impressionist paintings inspired by Israel. In fact, the paintings incorporate actual soil, and gold and silver dust from the country.

MBA curator Scott Peck says of the exhibit, “Hines’ paintings are breathtaking and intensely spiritual. They powerfully communicate the beauty of Israel and the Holy Land.”

Hines is not only a renowned artist but also a philanthropist. She donates 100 percent of her art sale profits to charitable causes. Certain pieces will be for sale at the MBA, and the proceeds will go equally to the museum and Chabad of Dallas.

The exhibit continues through Aug. 30, 2015.
