As the fall shopping season begins, here are a few ways to give back:
The 10-day charity shopping event, Partners Card, runs Oct. 24-Nov. 2. It has become the largest fundraiser for The Family Place, raking in $1,150,884 last year for domestic violence intervention and prevention. More than 750 retailers participate, including many of our Preston Hollow shops and restaurants. Here’s how it works: Buy a Partners Card at any of the participating retailers for $70, all of which goes straight to The Family Place. Then, use the card to receive 20 percent off purchases. To celebrate its 50th anniversary, Ken’s Man’s Shop is hosting an online auction now through Nov. 14, benefiting Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. You can bid on men’s clothing and accessories as well as other items like martial arts training and an autographed photo of Nola Ryan.
For the month of November, Castle Gap Jewelry in the Plaza at Preston Center hosts is annual Feeding the Community food and fund drive for the North Texas Food Bank. When you bring a minimum of two canned goods, or a $2 monetary donation, you can receive 30 percent of an entire purchase.
