ESD Chess Club

The chess club at the Episcopal School of Dallas’ lower school has grown so much over the years that it’s launching an annual tournament for local students of all ages and schools.

The club started with only five to eight students. Now, on any given Friday morning, as many as 60 ESD students gather in the dining commons, huddle over tables and compete against their peers. First-graders often challenge third-graders.

The “Fit for a King” chess tournament is at 9 a.m. Nov. 15 on the ESD Merrell Road campus. It’s open to all K-12 students in the Dallas area. Go here to register and learn more.
