Amidst the chaos of hosting parties, visiting family, and shopping during the holidays, it’s helpful to be reminded what this season is all about. Here are a few “sweet” ways local businesses and organizations are celebrating the spirit of giving this month — and how you can join them.

  • At NorthPark Center’s Camp Gingerbread, little ones can decorate gingerbread cookies with their favorite sugary delights, including frosting, nuts, dried fruit, candies and sprinkles. Proceeds benefit Shared Housing, a non-profit organization that facilitates affordable housing options for those in need. Cost is $10 per child. Held this Saturday, Dec. 6, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Through Dec. 14, bring a new, unwrapped toy to Sprinkles Cupcakes to receive a free cupcake. All toys will be donated to Children’s Medical Center.
  • At the Saint Michael and All Angels Holiday Cookie Swap on Sunday, Dec. 21, held from 4-5:30 p.m, there will be Christmas music, a hot chocolate bar, and goodies galore. Bring four dozen Christmas treats on disposable plates – two dozen for the church to serve at its Christmas Eve Home for the Holidays Reception and two dozen to swap. For more information contact Tish Visinsky at 214.363.5422 ext. 524 or tvisinsky@saintmichael.org.
