Our neighborhood’s newest special grocery store finally arrives at Preston Hollow Village, where we’ve closely watched the new-to-Dallas tenants rolling in.

At 8 a.m. Friday, Trader Joe’s opens its doors with an all-day celebration that includes food demonstrations, live music, face-painting and other activities.

Neighbors will notice some Preston Hollow-themed murals on the walls inside the store. They feature Ebby’s Little White House, where the original Town of Preston Hollow once operated before it was annexed to Dallas in the 1940s. A mural also depicts Mr. Blanding’s Dream House, a replica of the house from the classic film. The home was built at 5423 Walnut Hill in 1948, and its opening was timed with the release of the movie.

This will be the second Trader Joe’s for our neighborhood, following the Inwood Village store, which opened in June.

What’s all the fuss about? We wondered the same thing when Dallas’s first Trader Joe’s opened on Lower Greenville. Here’s a rundown on some of the store’s most-hyped products. I would add to the list Cookie Butter, Matcha Green Tea Latte Mix, and the Chevre with Honey Goat Cheese,

Trader Joe’s introduces about a dozen new items every month.
