Expanding from its Preston Center shop, the The Gem will set up new digs at the northwest corner of Preston and Forest, opening at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The vegan juice and smoothie bar uses organic ingredients to create its pressed juices. The menu includes popular items like Green Glow, made with kale, cucumber, lemon, apple and ginger; and Ruby Slipper with carrots, cucumber, beets, lemon and ginger. The store also serves healthy salads and soups.
The Gem owners, Mary Kathryn Bass and Leslie Needleman, host a blog about the “anti-cancer life,” encouraging people to avoid artificial colors and sweeteners, and other fake ingredients that often end up in our food.
Another juice bar, Buda Juice, also recently opened at Preston and Royal.
