From fashion boutiques to Pilates studios to chic salons, Preston Hollow and North Dallas can seem a little, well, girlie. But there are plenty of shops and activities ideal for the men in our neighborhood. Here’s a list of best bets, just in time for Father’s Day.

Brackish Feather Bow Ties at Anteks Curated

This Preston Center shop features rustic home furnishings, art, clothing and accessories from designer Jason Lennox. He hesitates to call it a men’s boutique, though. “It’s not a male perspective, it’s my perspective,” he says. Anteks is full of surprises. You’ll find hatchets, belt buckles and Lennox’s own line of silver accessories carried in the Smithsonian gift shops. We like the Brackish Feather Bow Ties, crafted from turkey feathers, and Antek’s is the product’s only Texas carrier.

Wurkin Stiffs power stays at Ken’s Man’s Shop

Described as the “Cheers of menswear,” this Preston-Royal shopping institution turned 50 last fall. (Get to know the father-son team in our archived Q&A). Ken’s Man’s Shop is a required stop in the search for the perfect Father’s Day gift. You’ll find classic Raffi v-necks, Atelier Gardeur pants, Italo Ferretti ties, and more. For something simple and practical, look for the “power stays” by Wurkin Stiffs. These nifty inventions remedy the dreaded limp collar.

Grilling class at The Mercury

Sometimes the best gifts involve spending time with Dad rather than buying things. Run elbows with Chef Chris Ward of The Mercury during a Father’s Day grilling class 1-3 p.m. June 13. Ward shares his recipes and offers tips on selecting, cleaning, seasoning and grilling. The spread includes ribeyes, porterhouse, New York strips, filets, local market steak, grilled avocado salad with tomato relish, tomato mozzarella salad and blueberry cobbler. The cost is $125, and seating is limited, so make reservations early. Call 972. 960.7774.
