Education

The future looks bright for two Jesuit students. Thomas Jordan and Charles “Clay” Phillips each earned a perfect ACT score this summer. Last year, only 1,407 of nearly 1.85 million students achieved this feat. That’s a mere 0.07%. For more on these impressive rising seniors, check out Jesuit’s blog.

On September 22, hear what former U.S. Secretary of Education, Dr. Rod Paige, thinks about the future of public schools. Dr. Mike Moss, former Texas Commissioner of Education, will join him for North Dallas Chamber’s annual education forum. The event takes place in our neighborhood at the Cooper Hotel. Next fall, there will be a new kindergarten option in town – well, sort of. The last time Temple Emanu-El’s Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) offered the program was 2004. This time around, the class will be 16 kids max. Two instructors will lead students through project-based learning activities and incorporate Spanish and Hebrew into lessons. For fun, kids will also dabble in yoga, the culinary arts and chess.

“Having the option of kindergarten is a great asset for our families,” Rabbi Ana Bonnheim says. “The main reason that resonated with our parents was the curriculum strength of the ECEC, and Jewish education in particular.”
