Maybe you’ve picked up a prescription or grabbed a quick snack at the CVS in Inwood Village. You definitely weren’t there buying alcohol. The store doesn’t carry any – at least not yet.

According to the City of Dallas, booze-selling businesses must be at least 300 feet from protected use buildings, like schools and child-care centers. That particular CVS backs right up to Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy, a magnet junior high. The store has applied for a variance to the alcohol spacing requirements, so it can begin supplying adults in our neighborhood with beer and wine.

Have an opinion? Head to the 6th floor of Dallas City Hall September 22 at 11:00 a.m. The City Council will discuss the matter in a public hearing.
