Regardless of your political affiliation, this Saturday’s Park Cities/Central Dallas Democrats meeting might be worth attending. Josh Gravens, a Soros Justice Fellow, will speak on the state of criminal justice in Texas. Topics will include Dallas County Jail’s new video visitation system and the effects of incarceration on children. The meeting begins at 10:30 a.m. at the University Park Public Library. If you haven’t been there before, it’s in The Plaza at Preston Center.

The Jewish Community Center’s film festival kicks off September 6. Catch a screening of “Blue Tattoo: Dina’s Story, Joe’s Song” at 3:30 p.m. in the Zale Auditorium. To learn more about the film, which documents the friendship between a holocaust survivor and a modern-day troubadour, click here.

Spend Labor Day at the Frontiers of Flight Museum. For $20 you can see the Texas premiere of “Doolittle’s Raiders: A Final Toast.” Lt. Col. Richard Cole, who served as Jimmy Doolittle’s co-pilot on the historic flight, is featured prominently in the documentary. It just so happens that his 100th birthday coincides with the film premiere, so this should be quite the celebration. Admission is free for veterans. The movie starts at 6:30 p.m.
