Philanthropists, mark your calendars. September 17 is North Texas Giving Day. The annual fundraising event, sponsored by Communities Foundation of Texas, will benefit more than 2,100 nonprofits, including several in our neighborhood.

From 6 a.m. to midnight, visit northtexasgivingday.org and search for your favorite charity. Donations of $25 or more “will be amplified by more than $2 million dollars in bonus funds and prizes.”

But you already know the drill. Last year, 75,000 charitable contributions were made, amounting to a whopping $26.3 million.

Participating Preston Hollow organizations include Museum of Biblical Art, Friends of Northaven Trail, Women in Film – Dallas and several area schools.

After making your charitable contribution, head to NorthPark and celebrate. In honor of Giving Day, you’ll witness performances by Dallas Children’s Theater, Ballet Folklorico, Lone Star Wind Orchestra and others. Click here to learn more.
