Learn to knit before the temperature drops. Every Friday from 1 – 3 p.m. a group called “The Purls” hosts a knitting social at the Preston-Royal Library. Newbies receive complimentary needles and yarn.

Jay Strongwater, designer of bejeweled ornaments and frames, stops by Neiman Marcus this Saturday. He’ll be in the Gifts and Home department, discussing his 20th anniversary collection from 1 – 4 p.m.

Of course David Bowie plays an alien in “The Man Who Fell to Earth” – his creative and aesthetic preferences are undeniably extraterrestrial. Catch a midnight screening of the cult film at Inwood Theatre this Sunday. Click here for details.
