Preston Hollow did good yesterday. No, I’m not having a grammatical breakdown — it was North Texas Giving Day and $5,589,342.50 of the funds raised for area non-profits came from our neighborhood.

Collectively, Dallas-Fort Worth residents and partnering organizations contributed $33.1 million. More than 110 monetary gifts were made per minute, making this the most successful Giving Day in history.

“Today proves that philanthropy is alive and well in North Texas and around the world” Brent Christopher, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas, the organization responsible for the event, said on September 17. “The commitment to supporting area nonprofits has been amazing. We received gifts from near and far, demonstrating the long lasting and tangible differences these nonprofits make in our region and beyond.”

Way to go, neighbors! Which charities did you support?
