The Dallas Jewish Bookfest kicks off next week with a visit from Nomi Eve. On October 21, she’ll stop by the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center to discuss her novel “Henna House.”

The story centers around Adela Damari, a young Jewish woman in Yemen who must find a husband before her parents’ death. The stakes are high — really high. If she doesn’t succeed, she’ll be orphaned, adopted by the local Muslim community and forced to abandon her religion.

Eve’s lecture is free to the public and begins at 7 p.m. Already have plans? Don’t worry. The Bookfest runs through April 19. In the next few months, you’ll have the opportunity to meet 11 authors including Jessamyn Hope, Jennifer Teege and Nick Kotz. For the full line up, click here.
