This holiday season, students at the Lamplighter School are learning the joy of helping others. Over Thanksgiving break, a crew of kids volunteered with the North Texas Food Bank. They packed a whopping 4,375 meals for those in need.

Lamplighter parents Gunjan Jain and Charmaine Tang supervised the service project.

“It was amazing to see the energy in the warehouse where the students were packing food for the hungry kids” Jain says. “Looking at their commitment and zeal proves to us that this type of event is the right thing to do … the hands-on experience teaches them philanthropy at an early age in a meaningful way.”

The event was sponsored by the food bank’s Kids Aganist Hunger Council. Other participants included students from St. Mark’s, Greenhill and University Park Elementary School.
