The Walcrest Pump Station at Walnut Hill Lane and Hillcrest Avenue is in bad shape. In fact, “DWU [Dallas Water Utilities] Facility Condition Assessment listed Walcrest pump station as [the 8th] poorest condition facility in the system.” But that’s being remedied.

The city plans to replace the entire station by 2019. Demolition will begin immediately and should take 9 to 12 months to complete. This, of course, means we can expect frequent road closures.

According to a link sent via email by Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates:

One lane on west bound Walnut Hill will be closed Mondays at 9 AM and reopened on Fridays at 4 PM … The lane closure starts just west of Airline and ends about 300 feet before be the intersection of Walnut Hill and Hillcrest.

One lane on northbound Hillcrest will be closed Mondays at 9AM and reopened on Fridays at 4 PM … The lane tapering will begin 100 feet after intersection of Walnut Hill and Hillcrest and extend all the way to Aberdeen.
