Several vendors from the State Fair of Texas received a strange letter recently, according to The Dallas Morning News. It asked recipients to report “any information they might have concerning ‘kickbacks, fraud or misuse of city property’ taking place during the three weeks of the year the State Fair is open at Fair Park.” Though the letter appeared to be from City Auditor Craig Kinton, it wasn’t. He’d never laid eyes on the document. Many councilmembers, including Jennifer Staubach Gates, are unsettled by the possibility that someone is ” ‘falsely presenting themselves as the city’ “. Research from Jones Lang La Salle (JLL) reveals that Dallas’ commercial real estate market is thriving, thanks in part to Preston Center. The complex had a whopping 134,580 square feet of office space absorbed last year. Candace Carlisle at the Dallas Business Journal has the scoop.
