The drumline equipment at W.T. White is older than the school’s students. (It’s been around for roughly 20 years, according to an email from PTSA member Beth Weller.) To address the problem, co-band director Phillip Potter created a page on donorschose.org, a crowdfunding site specifically for teachers. Here’s the link.

He hopes to raise $14,000 by June 11 in order to purchase the “snare drums, bass drums, tenors, cymbals, stands, and cases [his students need] to be able to perform and compete as a drumline.” There’s no shortage of musical talent at W.T. White. “Just recently, our percussion students won six out of ten positions in the all-city band,” Potter says.

Potter is one of 12 teachers at W.T. White with a profile on donorschose.org. To learn more about the respective fundraising efforts, click here.
