Whoever came up with that nasty saying, ‘Those who can’t do, teach,’ clearly hadn’t met Pam O’Krent. She’s the art instructor at Lamplighter — and has been for years — but her personal creations are often showcased in local galleries.

This weekend, for instance, O’Krent’s pieces will be on display at the 8180 Art Gallery on Elmbrook, near I-35 at Mockingbird. “Works on Paper” is her largest solo show to date, featuring more than 50 pieces.

Stop by March 12 between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. to check out O’Krent’s work, which incorporates, “printmaking, collage with paper and fabric, objects, oil pastels and colored pencils, and stitching onto paper,” according to the announcement from Lamplighter.
