Two stores with direct ties to the world’s fashion capitol, Paris, made their debut at the NorthPark Center in recent weeks.

Longchamp, which has been making fine leather goods including luggage, handbags and accessories, opened March 31. It is the company’s first store in Texas. The brand was founded in Paris in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain and is still owned and run by the Cassegrain family today.

Diptyque was also born in France when three friends, Desmond Knox-Leet, Christiane Gautrot, and Yves Coueslant decided to open a boutique in 1961. They showcased a line of English perfumes, many of which had not been smelled in France before. In 1968, they debuted their signature scent, L’Eau, inspired by a 16th-century potpourri recipe. It was so popular, the boutique committed itself to developing a fragrances for both men and women, as well as home scents, candles and other good-smelling goodies. Their NorthPark location opened April 8.
