Students across the metroplex were invited to explore the intersection of commerce and design with the eighth annual Retail As Art exhibition. Of the 124 students who applied from 25 different area schools, Hockaday School student Claire Marucci took Best in Show, earning a $5,000 scholarship.

More than $22,000 in funds were divided up between 14 winners, but Marucci scored the biggest prize for her photographic work. Founded by CBRE Chairman Mickey Ashmore, the work was displayed at the Goss-Michael Foundation last week.

The contest began in 2008 and has demonstrated the “true beauty of retail” by artistically showing storefronts, shoppers and other business-related photographs.
