Coconut’s Fish Cafe, which opened in 2014 on Lover’s near the Tollway, is closed, but the owners are working on a new concept, Texas Scratch Kitchen, which they expect to open within the month, according to owners Tim nad Nathan Brasher.

The menu will focus on “bold flavors and dishes that are both comforting and reminiscent of home-cooked meals at family gatherings,” they note in a press release.

Look for a menu of ginger-kissed wild salmon, gulf coast Thanksgiving, Texas braised BBQ beef short ribs and pesto-crusted pork T-bone.

Co-owner Tim Brasher says they decided to change the concept “after getting to know the neighborhood and its residents over the last year.”

“We wanted to create a place with a menu we knew would resonate and an atmosphere that would feel comforting and inviting,” he adds.

The restaurant, inside grey and blue palate walls, will seat about 75. The bar will feature a lengthy wine, champagne and local-beer selection.

When Coconuts first opened, it replaced Donna’s Pie House Cafe and Laguna Coffee and Tea.
