Preston Hollow resident Mark Cuban this past week has hinted at his growing interest in politics and even the possibility of running for President or Vice President of the United States.
In light of the whole Trump thing, it seems, Cuban now sees successfully running for POTUS as a viable career move.
“Well, it’s certainly more of a consideration than it was,” Cuban said in an interview Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press. “You don’t have to be the perfect Stepford candidate like you would’ve been in the past.”
Cuban, a self-professed independent, says he’d consider offers to serve as vice president from either presumed Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump or Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.
He says he’d want Clinton to move more “to the center” and he worries about Trump’s limited grasp of policy and short temper. He also supports the Affordable Care Act, a decidedly Democratic thing to support.
“I think that is the best way to find somebody who can really capture what’s needed in the country, and businesspeople have, especially successful businesspeople who are really successful as opposed to pretend successful, I think have a lot to offer.” —Hillary Clinton on potential selection of Mark Cuban as her running mate
Clinton addressed Cuban’s offer, telling Meet the Press she’s “absolutely” intending to look “far and wide” to find a potential vice president.
“I think that is the best way to find somebody who can really capture what’s needed in the country, and businesspeople have, especially successful businesspeople who are really successful as opposed to pretend successful, I think have a lot to offer,” Clinton said on the show, taking an obvious shot at Trump.
He wouldn’t be the first Preston Hollow POTUS, of course. That title goes to George W. Bush.
Look for Cuban tonight as he is in Las Vegas presenting the Billboard Music Awards.
I’m going to Tweet Cuban and see if we can get an Advocate interview, while he’s making the rounds and all. If you’re reading, Whadda ya say, Mark?
