Preston Hollow resident Jordan Spieth’s best performance at the Byron Nelson Golf Tournament took place six years ago, when he was a junior at Jesuit College Preparatory School and he finished T16 as a 16-year-old amateur. This year at the Byron, Spieth was disappointed after a 74 over the final 18 holes (including six bogeys), bumped the 22 year old down to T18.
The kid’s alright, though.
In the interview area this past weekend he was upbeat and excited about next week, according to CBS Sports’ Kyle Porter.
Friday night, Spieth told his Twitter followers, he took in some high school baseball from “the old fashioned seats,” as he posted a photo from a field in Prosper, TX, where Jesuit’s Rangers battled the Highland Park Scots in game two of the Class 6A Region II quarterfinals, reportedly a real nailbiter.
“While Spieth didn’t take home the Byron Nelson title on Sunday, he at least could take solace from the performance of his former school,” reports USA Today. “Jesuit eliminated Highland Park with a 3-2 victory in Game 3, albeit without the golf star in attendance.”
