Saint Michael's Farmers Market

Saint Michael’s Farmers Market

Need to stock up on your weekly produce, or just want to get out of the house and peruse what’s fresh off the farm? Head over to the Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church weekly farmer’s market at 8011 Douglas Ave. The market takes place every Saturday through Set. 17 from 8 a.m. to noon and offers a changing lineup of vendors such as Fun Guys Gourmet Mushrooms and Pop Star Popsicles. You’ll find it in the north parking lot of the church.

Car buffs, take note: the annual Auto Show at NorthPark Center begins this week, continuing on through Aug. 28. It offers visitors the chance to see the latest models of some very exclusive cars, including Aston Martin, Maserati, Porsche and Land Rover. Cars will be displayed all around level one, with dealership information included to answer any questions.

Want to brush up on your watercolor skills? North Haven Gardens is offering a lecture and class this Sunday from 2-4 p.m. going over the basic techniques, with a chance to paint in the gorgeous garden setting. The instructor is Marian Hirsch, a noted watercolor artist whose work hangs in the corporate collections held by companies like Ford Motor Company, AT&T, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Merrill Lynch, Lucent Technologies, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, Dallas Business Journal and Verizon Wireless. Attendees will be treated to a glass of wine, but only 12 spots are available and registration is required. There is no charge to attend, but you must bring your own materials (see a supply list here).
