This year’s political climate may seem more devisive than ever before, with more name calling and mud slinging than we typically see. However, politically motivated attacks are no new thing in the country or in Preston Hollow, even once a president has retired from the oval office.

Back in 2013, SMU prepared to celebrate the opening of the George W. Bush Presidential Center with a gala affair full of speakers and reminiscing about the 43rd presidency. But not all who attended were merry.

About 200 protestors attended the event, making sure Bush’s questionable record with the War on Terror wasn’t soon forgotten. The Advocate was on scene during the event, capturing photos of both the revelry and the protest — see the photos here.
