George W. Bush Presidential Center

We’ve got a long weekend to look forward to, and there’s plenty to keep you occupied in our neighborhood between the Labor Day barbecues and pool parties.

This is the last weekend military families can get free admission at the Frontiers of Flight museum, with its expansive exhibits on all things aviation. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Blue Star Museum, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts, provides access to all sorts of culture for military families in the form of free museum tickets. Get the details on the Frontiers of Flight program here.

Over at the George W. Bush Presidential Center, learn about what it takes to get elected to America’s highest office. “Path to the Presidency” provides an in-depth look at campaigns and elections throughout history. While you’re there, swing by the 9/11 exhibit “A Nation Under Attack,” which chronicles one of the darkest moments in recent American history.

If you prefer art to history, the Biblical Museum of Art is showcasing artwork that highlights Jewish traditions. “A Mosaic Passover Story: Symbols of Judaism” includes 50 artists who have explored the Jewish faith in their artwork. The show closes Sept. 5, so this is your last chance to see it.
