If you’re looking for some fun and cost-effective things to do this weekend, Friends of the Northaven Trail have got you covered with two free events.

It starts this Friday, Sept. 9, with a screening of the family friendly hit “Angry Birds.” The night begins at 7 p.m. with dinner from Dickey’s BBQ, followed by the film at dusk. You can find the movie night at the Edgemere intersection of the trail.

The following day, Saturday, Sept. 10, get outdoors and stretch with Core Power Yoga, which will offer a free class on the trail at 9 a.m. It’s part of a morning event that also includes face painting for kids, adoptable dogs from Against All Odds rescue, Easy Slider food truck and raffle prizes. There is no charge to attend and the events take place until 11 a.m. at the Royalshire intersection on the trail.

Want to start the weekend a little sooner? The Meadows Museum at SMU celebrates music and dance of Andalucia with performances by Duo Cuenca from Spain on Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:30 p.m. The two brothers play piano and guitar with classic Spanish flare. They will be joined by dancer Raquel Parilla, who dances both flamenco and classical ballet. The performance is free with museum attendance. For more details, contact Carmen Smith or call 214.768.4677.
