Lamplighter School students are taking steps to help others yet again. Just this year, the students have given 3,000 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls.

The school has collected more than 16,000 pairs of shoes since 2012 for the nonprofit organization that distributes clothing and footwear to people facing poverty.

Students kicked off the fundraiser at an assembly this past month where they stockpiled a variety of shoes — even cowboy boots — to donate to Soles4Souls.

Lamplighter teacher Debbie Herskovitz also partnered with two Orange Theory Fitness locations and a 24-Hour Fitness Center to raise awareness for the organization and gather additional shoes.
